I chose to put remote vision care into my practice, or digital vision care, after realizing that there’s a huge manpower shortage of optometrists.
And there are many, many more offices that need doctors than there are doctors. And I saw that remote will be the key to filling that void. I chose Topcon after a lot of research, a lot of finger poking, and the basic reason was the Topcon’s people, their support.
Their instruments are great. Their software is fantastic, but it’s the people behind their software and their hardware and their efficiency, and their customer service that has made me extremely happy with my two remote offices. The Maestro2 camera allows me to do very thorough evaluations of the retina.
The phoropter works seamlessly from my office in my home.
Just the top kind of equipment is just state of the art. It’s that simple. And to do remote, you really have to have the right instrumentation and the ability to train a technician to utilize that instrumentation.
I was a little, apprehensive about remote eye care, but, wow, I’m part of the future.
