Myopia management, bring it into the practice, you can look at it different ways, whether it’s from a clinical aspect where it’s something that our patients need, or you can look at it from a practice management standpoint. I always was looking at for different ways to kinda enhance the level of care that we’re bringing in the practice, and definitely myopia management was a was a key, focus with that. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t know about it. So educating patients about this therapy is really showing them that we’re doing things a lot different than what they’ve been exposed to before.
It’s called myopia management for a reason. It’s not a one and done process. You’re actually dealing with this patient or working with them over a long period of time. Technology is very useful in that because I have specific data points that I can share with the patients and the parents so that they can learn to appreciate the benefits they can get from.
Clinically, axial length, as we’re seeing in the studies, is so, so important when we’re talking about accurately managing myopia. The data that the MYAH provides for me helps me do that seamlessly. I initially brought MYAH on exclusively for axial length measurements, but we soon came to realize all the other features that it offered, meibography being one of them. We do a lot of dry eye in our practice, and it’s been really helpful in diagnosing and helping patients with regards to treatment.
I definitely wanna emphasize the benefits of the MYAH instrument. We’re talking about myopia management, obviously, axial length is important. But when we talk about meibography, we’re talking about topography, the device is extremely powerful and it could be fit into most any practice, especially practice as mine, like a primary care practice where we see all sorts of patients. Myopia is a global epidemic, and we definitely wanna be in the front line of treating us.
The best way to do that is with technology, and Topcon and MYAH will be there to help you out do that.
