Incorporating state-of-the-art technology has been what we wanted from day one. I knew that I wanted to be able to work with a company that would allow me to have the full assets that I need in the office. When a patient enters our door, they know that they’re entering a very boutique practice. But when they step into our pretesting lane, and it’s all highly automatic, there’s so much technology, it’s so easy, so efficient, patients absolutely love the experience, and it’s what brings them back year after year. Being in a partnership with Topcon has been essential for the growth of my company. We were a baby office. We started with one lane. We had just a little bit of the simple devices. We had c eight hundred. We had my OCT, but now expanding into four lanes and having DC fours in all my lanes doing anterior segment imaging, it has literally grown my practice from a comprehensive eye care practice to mostly dry eye, and that’s my passion. When we are incorporating the c eight hundred into our screening methods for comprehensive exams, we find it pivotal to be able to utilize the TBT, the tier breakup time. Non contact is wonderful compared to just using fluorescein, and also the my biography element. I love to show patients what their tiers are doing. TBT is quick, efficient, and we’re able to have that report immediately and show them at their comprehensive exam in a matter of fifteen seconds. My dry eyes before I came to see Doctor Ferreira were constantly irritated. Wearing contacts was difficult. And then coming into doctor Ferreira’s office from the first appointment, she was like, do you have any pain and irritation? And I had just been brushed off for so many years. And I was like, well, yeah, but it’s just how I live. And she was like, no. You don’t have to. Let’s do these tests, figure out what’s going on, and then fix the issue if there is one. When I’m conducting my dry eye evaluations, it’s important for me to not only have pivotal screeners but also ways that I can didactically show my patients what I’m seeing. A lot of times, I have asymptomatic patients in here. They definitely need to see the signs and not just know the symptoms. So when I’m incorporating c eight hundred, I can show them their noncontact TBUT (tear breakup time), which is phenomenal. Also, when I’m able to show them their my biography, they’re blown away. Most of these patients don’t even know what my biography is. They don’t even know you have glands in your eyes. So it’s fascinating to be able to show them good, healthy glands, but also when they’re atrophied, and they don’t even know that they have that going on, it’s pivotal for my exams. When I’m being told, hey, you have this issue, doctor Ferreira was the first eye doctor I’ve ever gone to that was able to use the technology that she has in office to show me what was going on. Since doing the dry eye treatment plan, my eyes feel so much better. I don’t even feel my eyes anymore. Whereas before, every day I woke up and I felt my eyes. Patients really appreciate the ease and comfort of the testing. There is actual data they get to go home with, and we can compare over time. That’s pivotal and we absolutely love that. And also my technicians love it because they know it can be quick, efficient, and it will not mess up their patient flow of the exam. The CA eight hundred is phenomenal to me because it allows me to do multiple tests in one. Easy to train, very easy to implement in office, very quick and efficient to use. I believe that CA eight hundred should be involved in anyone’s comprehensive testing and screening to be able to determine if dry is there.
